To be honest, I was wondering if I should write this story, but I want to keep the backstory authentic.
One of the things I learned from doing this sculpture was how to handle something so original and different.
This is the first painted layered glass sculpture I ever created. After an enormous amount of work, trial and error (emphasis on “error”), and spending a lot of money I didn’t have, I finally finished it. I was wildly out of my comfort zone. I set it on my desk and looked at it. I didn’t even know if I liked it! I was so confused. I finally had step away from it for a few days and then come back to it with fresh eyes.
I loved it!
I'm not sure what happened, but I think that when this first sculpture was finally finished and I had been so unsure of myself after paying an enormous price in time and effort, it was probably a mental and emotional exhaustion.
Fortunately, I got over it. I love the sculpture and it motivated me to make this my signature art style.
