The first snow of winter was something magical for me when I was growing up in Utah from the time I was a kid to my adult years. It would seem so peaceful and serene, especially if it fell at night. I would either see it cover the ground in the morning. I would also turn the porch light on and watch it fall in fluffy flakes and it would transport me into another world that was so different than my usual day-to-day life. I always loved the first snow of winter, especially when it was punctuated with some form of life enjoying the snow as well. This sculpture brings all of that back to me.
