I had worked with glass sculpture before but assembled them using outside brackets, but this one hangs on a wall and I didn't want outside brackets. I wanted a much cleaner appearance. All during the painting phase, I did a lot of research on Google to get ideas of how of how I was going to assemble this. I decided to use an industrial strength adhesive to keep a clean look. I also used black nylon bearings that are used in robotics as the stand-offs. Everything is glued together with the adhesive. There isn’t a single nut, bolt, screw, nail, or staple in it. Another challenge was how was I going to hang this. I knew I wanted to use a wire hanger, but I wasn’t sure how to attach it to the sculpture without screwing something in somewhere, which is not easy with glass. I figured out I could use the adhesive here as well, and it worked out very well. |
