I also love the tradition that when you see a Cardinal, someone in Heaven is sending you a message. This particular Cardinal was very brightly lit, and I could get a lot of highlights and shadows to make him look more 3-D.
I was originally thinking of leaving the back panel clear so there was a lot of see-through. But after some experimenting, I found that I couldn't control how much the bird would stand out depending on what the background color was. So, I want with a very dark background so the bird would really "pop."
