I especially found serenity as the night was falling and the crickets began to chirp and the frogs began to croak. Every now and again, I could hear the splash of a fish jumping. It was a soft, beautiful symphony of nature's sounds that was incredibly soothing. I allowed myself to bask in serenity and peace, and it felt wonderful! I knew I had to create this sculpture as an homage' to the peace that nature can bring.
I also noticed a happy accident when I was painting the sculpture. I put the layer containing the lake's reflection back two layers to make depth for the front two. I discovered that it created a whole new effect. Not only did the slight tint of the glass mute the image a little that gave it the effect of a reflection in a glassy smooth lake, but also it created a new effect with the base and the visual structure that is fascinating. Once again, it helps to see it in person so the three-dimensionality is more apparent. Wow, I did good and didn't even know it! :-) |
