At those times, you probably didn't have a choice. Other times, we need to let go of something or someone to move on to something or someone better. The problems is that we usually don't know who that someone or something is. Still, the need to let go to make progress is necessary, if not unnerving or heart-breaking. I had worked with glass sculpture before but assembled them using outside brackets, but this one hangs on a wall and I wanted a much cleaner appearance. All during the painting phase, I did a lot of research to get ideas of how of how I was going to assemble this. I decided to use an industrial strength adhesive to keep a clean look. I also used black nylon bearings that are used in robotics as the stand-offs. Everything is glued together with the adhesive. There isn’t a single nut, bolt, screw, nail, or staple in it. Another challenge was how was I going to hang this. I figured out I could use the adhesive here as well, to glue two D-clips to the back and string a wire to hang the sculpture. It worked out very well. |
